Welcome to the 2017 Perspective on Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders. I am honored and excited to officially begin my three-year term as the editor of SIG 13 Perspectives. Some of the best minds in our field fill our current committee; so it will be a great year. Committee members, I thank you. With Lynne Brady Wagner at the helm, we are destined for success. Each author who accepts our invitation to write an article dedicates their knowledge and time to bring our readership valuable information on the topic of swallowing and swallowing disorders. Let me thank all of our 2016 authors for their hard work and dedication. Also, let me remind affiliates that you may still access 2016 articles and the continuing education examinations in the Perspectives archives.
