The mission of Special Interest Group (SIG) 6 Hearing and Hearing Disorders: Research and Diagnostics is to provide the opportunity for communication and collaboration between clinicians and researchers, with the goal of building a bridge between research findings and evidence-based practice related to hearing and balance. I am Keith Wolgemuth (Professor, Researcher, and Clinical Audiologist), your incoming coordinator, and for the past year I have had the pleasure of working with the SIG 6 Coordinating Committee as the associate coordinator. This SIG is comprised of a community of audiologists and hearing scientists interested in a wide range of clinical and research issues involving the auditory and vestibular systems. Topics of interest include models of hearing, psychoacoustics, auditory processing, effects of genetic and/or environmental agents on the auditory and vestibular systems, tinnitus, diagnosis of hearing and balance disorders, aging and auditory–vestibular function, and hearing loss prevention and conservation. We also welcome all new affiliates to SIG 6, and to all returning members, we appreciate your interest in this wide ranging area of audiology practice and research.
