Welcome to SIG 19's inaugural offering to Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups. My name is Richard Andreatta and I am the editor for SIG 19, Speech Science. I am an associate professor at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Rehabilitation Science where I teach and do research in communication neuroscience and laryngeal physiology. I am honored to have been selected by the Coordinating Committee to serve as the founding editor of our publication, and I sincerely promise to try my best to live up to their confidence in me and produce a worthy product for all of our SIG affiliates.
